House Republicans Block Epstein Files Release—Only One Breaks Ranks

On July 14, 2025, the House Rules Committee considered an amendment that was proposed by Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) to force the Justice Department to publicly release all Jeffrey Epstein documents as part of a procedural vehicle tied to crypto and defense spending legislation.

The vote count was 6-5 against, with only ONE Republican, Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC), joining four Democrats in support of the amendment. The remaining GOP members all voted no, including the Rules Chair Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC).

The GOP repeatedly promised to release the files earlier, yet this vote shut that down. Majorite Taylor Greene has notably ben highly critical of the government for continually not releasing the files.
